Twitter

I like Twitter. I also acknowledge the fact that it's completely retarded to constantly update your "followers" with every single thing that you are doing. Who cares...Myspace and FB have been blocked at work so along with Niketalk, Twitter helps me get through the day.

This video preys on the unaware. Good stuff =)

Whip Appeal

"Killin y'all n*ggaz on that lyrical shit/
Mayonnaise colored Benz, I push Miracle Whips"

- Kanye West

I want a new car!

While I appreciate and have much love for the current ride, I want something a little more plush, probably even a little more German. However, the shitty economy and a nagging need to "do the sensible thing" (read: own, not rent) is throwing wrenches in my plan.

But...if I was gonna upgrade, these would be the top three choices (in white, of course!):

Audi A5 (It's those LEDs man...)

Amuse Ericsson M3 (Yeah right!)

But in all likelihood, I'll most likely opt for this b/c it fits the bill without breaking the bank.

G37 Sedan (Minus the red lugs and super agressive rear offset)

Decisions, decisions...

Joint of The Day 03.31.09: B-Real Ft. Damian Marley - Fire

Thanks to Row for putting me onto this one. I still think this would come off even better in a live performance but it's still better than 90% of the hot garbage being pushed out on DigiWaxx. Damian steals it with his verse but B-Real gets points for spitting over "Posse On Broadway".

You Know How I Know You're Gay?

What. A. Weekend.

Vince Chase came down from The Bay for his customary once-every-two-weeks visit. I've been nothing but homebody status for the most part and I gotta say that it was a nice change of pace. Good times...now send me the pics sucka deuce!

This pretty much sums it all up...

There's not much to publicly speak on except to thank God for all the innovative iPhone apps out there. If you ever see an app but you're not sure if you'd ever find it useful, download that shit anyway. There will be a time when you will need that app and it will essentially save your ass. HAHAHA!

LAX was good and so was The Highlands.

On Saturday, a huge fight broke out at the end of my set that had all the people in the bottle service area about to get all Persia-versus-Sparta on each other. Ironically, it was while 'Blame It' was on. I wish I followed it up with the 'Rocky' theme but I didn't have it in my library.

This week should be interesting. I have some things brewing on the DJ front that I'll announce very soon. Trips to San Jo and NY are also up for consideration; perfect timing as I'm ready for a little R&R. Other than that, more P90X-goodness and summoning my inner Ilocano as I try to continue on this frugal tip that's been working so well for the contents of the black leather Guccisimo haha

Have a good week, PEACE!

- ReFresco

Joint of The Day 03.30.09: Peter, Bjorn, and John - Young Folks

Little known hip-hop fact: "Young Folks" was the original sample for Juelz Santana's track "There It Go (The Whistle Song)". They slowed it down, chopped it up, and threw some DipSet marinade over it. The result was a catchy whistling hook that clubbers ate up and DJs mixed perfectly with "Touch It".

I thought it would be a perfect Monday song since it's uptempo enough to wake you up for the work week ahead but chill enough to coincide with the fact that you're still on the weekend clock.

P.S. - I was kidding about that whole original sample story. SUCKAS!

P90-Fresh!

For those that don't know, I started P90x and I'm now in my 5th week. So far, so good. Only 5 weeks in and there's already notable increases in strength and muscle definition. I've missed a couple workouts but still averaging 4 sessions a week so I don't feel too bad. The diet is probably the X factor in the whole equation and while I've been eating a lot cleaner for a while now, it could always be better.

Anyway, I did crazy research on everything before I started and now everyone is asking me what they need to get started. Read up and get right, summer is around the corner!

P90X DISCS
Order them from www.beachbody.com or Google some torrents so you can rip some bootlegs. I went the legit route and ordered them; this is more a mental thing than anything since I know I'll stick with it after having thrown some money down.

DUMBBELLS/RESISTANCE BANDS
To save money, I tried doing it with bands at first and that was major fail. For one thing, I picked up cheap $10 bands so they snapped on me within a few days (I'm swole, thought 'chu knew?!) . Second, the tension on bands isn't easily measured so you can't accurately chart your progress and immediately tell if you're getting stronger.

After some research, I went with Powerblock adjustable dumbbells - the Sport 9.0 joints. Fuck a Bowflex SelectTech, these are the truth. The only ones that come close are Ironmasters.

PULLUP BAR
Iron Gym FTW here. You can always spring for those Weider Power Tower-type joints but if space is limited, Iron Gym is the way to go. Copped mine at Sports Authority but I've seen them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

PUSHUP BARS
It's important to have these to increase your range of motion. Plus it takes unnecessary pressure off your wrists. I found the Pefect Pushups at Sports Authority.

YOGA MAT
If you have carpet then you can skip this and save yourself a couple of bucks. I bought one and have only used it a few times.

SUPPLEMENTS
This won't be the same for everyone because people will react differently to supplements. After reading up and talking to people, MRI seems to make the best products (for me anyway). CE-2 is their creatine and I stack it with their Pro-NOS protein powder (Cookies and Cream or Dutch Royal Chocolate is THEE business!). 6 months in and I've had ZERO side effects like acne or headaches. Pricey but highly recommended for muscle building and recovery.

You'll want to round out your supplements with a multi-vitamin to replace nutrients that you burn off during workouts and to compensate for what you're not getting in your shitty In N Out diet. Look no further than GNC Mega Men here.

That pretty much covers all the tools. It's not necessary to go out and blow all that cheese on the same things but that's what works for me.

Good luck, my fellow fatties

Joint of The Day 03.27.09: The Count & Sinden Ft. Kid Sister - Beeper (Remix)

It's FRIIIIDAAAAY!

And in the spirit of my favorite day of the week, I thought I'd break you off with some uptempo goodness. The original track by The Count & Sinden was dope all by itself but throwing some Kid Sister lyricism into the mix just makes dope that much doper.

This is for everyone who ever had a Motorola Bravo Express with the see-through case and crayon filled "Motorola" on the clip. 1417*1773*017*1774*8339312!!

Diary of A Mad Band (of crackheads)

Earlier this month, me, Jenn, and 2BK were supposed to catch Jodeci's reunion show at Nokia Live. Despite our friends' warnings that they were notorious for cancelling, we went ahead and bought the tickets anyway. Sure enough, a few days before the show, we got the email saying that the show was cancelled.

While Jenn and 2BK are upset that they don't get to see Mr. Dalvin, I'm only upset because I thought I'd get to see some crackhead antics from K-Ci and JoJo.

What am I talking about? Please watch the first video for a prime example that crack is wack. Then watch the second to see Ludacris and 9th Wonder laugh their asses off at the first video. The third video ties it all together. Pure comedy!

(FF to the 1:50 mark)

Luda and 9th Wonder clownin!

Another angle couldn't hurt hahaha

Joint of The Day 03.26.09: Keri Hilson Ft. Ne-Yo and Kanye West - Knock You Down

We already know Kanye has been on a roll. Ne-Yo is basically picking up where cougar-hunting Usher left off. With this latest single, it sounds like Keri Hilson is keeping the solo momentum going from the 'Turnin Me On' buzz.

Teamed up the Louis Vuitton Don and Jim Jones' favorite person to beat down, this is a banger that's sure to be a favorite on your girl's iPod.

Skateboard P vs. Mickey D's

He can get a Ferrari Enzo before other rich dudes but when it comes to lunch @ McDonald's, Pharrell has to wait til 11:00 like everyone else. If I was getting a cool mill per track, I'd probably act a fool just the same. High-larious!

Lookout Weekend

The weekend starts on Thursday so mark your calendars, get your liver ready, and hit me up for info/guestlist/bottle accomodations. An all new event at Les Deux so you know it's gonna be crackin!

Sneak of The Week: Ep 2

The black Air Jordan IV Lasers. Released in 2005. Rumored to have only 3000 pairs in existence. Preceded by the equally hyped white AJ IV Lasers.

Classic black/red Bulls colorway, quality leather, intricate laser detail. It was almost a perfect execution by Jordan Brand except they forgot the plastic wings and heel tab. Can't have everything I guess.

Looking to pickup a pair? They're going for about $450 at Flight Club. If I ever unload mine, I hope I get Napsize-type prices where they're fetching a cool $700 and up.

No glue stains here!

Peace to Greyone

Joint of The Day 03.25.09: Soulja Boy - Turn My Swag On

Yeah I said it. This song is JoTD-worthy. So is 'Kiss Me Thru The Phone' but the sing-along hook makes that one almost an automatic shoe-in. As for this track, it ain't the lyrics or anything; it just makes me wish I had a Murcielago to whip around Hollywood so I could drive with my left hand way up on the steering wheel to floss the iced out Audemars on my wrist.

That reminds me, does anyone have next week's winning lottery numbers?

Geeked Up

Say what you will but video games are an effective method of saving money. After the initial investment of buying the game, you're only really spending on food and electricity. I picked up NBA 2K9 last October and I'm still blowing out fools with King James and Co.

Here's some titles that I need to add to the library:

Street Fighter IV (Released 02.18.09). I dropped so many quarters on SFII in the arcades that I should be rolling in a Porsche. Family Arcade, Redondo Beach, Malibu Castle, and numerous 7-11s weren't safe from me and my Ryu/Ken skills. It's safe to say that SFIV is a must-have.

THEEE illest teaser poster. Youngsters: Go up your SFII knowledge haha

The TE fightstick is so necessary!

UFC Undisputed 2009 (Release Date: 05.19.09)

If you know me, then there's no reason to even ask why I'm pumped about this game! I've been following development since it was announced and everything from animations to intricate BJJ techniques have been laboriously replicated. Trust, I'll be murkin fools online with The Prodigy and The Axe Murderer all day!

Fight Night Round 4 (Release Date: 06.30.09)

FN3 was thee illest boxing game since FN2, which was thee illest boxing game since Mike Tyson's Punchout, word to "007-373-5963". I expect this one to be nothing short of a complete black hole of all my free time. Tyson vs Ali and Pacquiao vs Mayweather superfights, here I come!

Joint of The Day 03.24.09: Ryan Leslie Ft. Cassie - Addiction

If I ever win the lottery, one of things I'd like to do is just buy a truckload of recording/production equipment and lock myself in a studio. Production is the next step from DJing and it only makes sense to take it in that direction. I've put together battle routines and club sets, up next should be full length tracks.

That's why Ryan Leslie's 'Addiction' gets Joint of The Day. I appreciate the creative process that went into completing the track; I bug out when I hear the isolated pieces and then bug out some more when he layers them all together. Bananas...

A Trilli

What does one TRILLION dollars look like? All this talk about "stimulus packages" and "bailouts"...

A billion dollars...

A hundred billion dollars...

Eight hundred billion dollars...

One TRILLION dollars...

What does that look like? I mean, these various numbers are tossed around like so many doggie treats, so I thought I'd take Google Sketchup out for a test drive and try to get a sense of what exactly a trillion dollars looks like.

We'll start with a $100 dollar bill. Currently the largest U.S. denomination in general circulation. Most everyone has seen them, slighty fewer have owned them. Guaranteed to make friends wherever they go.

$100

A packet of one hundred $100 bills is less than 1/2" thick and contains $10,000. Fits in your pocket easily and is more than enough for week or two of shamefully decadent fun.

$10,000

Believe it or not, this next little pile is $1 million dollars (100 packets of $10,000). You could stuff that into a grocery bag and walk around with it.

$1,000,000 (one million dollars)

While a measly $1 million looked a little unimpressive, $100 million is a little more respectable. It fits neatly on a standard pallet...

$100,000,000 (one hundred million dollars)

And $1 BILLION dollars... now we're really getting somewhere...

$1,000,000,000 (one billion dollars)

Next we'll look at ONE TRILLION dollars. This is that number we've been hearing so much about. What is a trillion dollars? Well, it's a million million. It's a thousand billion. It's a one followed by 12 zeros.

You ready for this?

It's pretty surprising.

Go ahead...

Scroll down...

Ladies and gentlemen... I give you $1 trillion dollars...

$1,000,000,000,000 (one trillion dollars)

(And notice those pallets are double stacked.)

So the next time you hear someone toss around the phrase "trillion dollars"... that's what they're talking about.

Joint of The Day 03.23.09: Cassie Ft. Diddy - Must Be Love

Ok, let's be honest. Generally speaking, Cassie can't sing for shit. You saw the infamous 106 & Park performance. As Randy Jackson would say, "It was real pitchy, DOG...all over the place, DOG.

Lucky for her, she's smokin hot and Diddy can only pimp out Danity Kane and Day 26 so much. With a little production help, she can put out songs that don't require her to belt shit out. Case in point, her new joint is real smooth. Takes me back to days of Total, SWV, and Xscape. More like this Cassie, thanks!

TGIF!

I'm beat! Hit up Sevilla's in LB last night to check out the Slim performance only to discover 2 things:

1. He didn't do 'Cupid'. WTF?!
2. I'm no longer built for weekday partying.

I'll upload pics later. Time for some oatmeal.

EDIT:

As promised, here's some footage from the Slim performance.

Dance With Me

Joint of The Day 03.20.09: NORE Ft. Busta and Ron Browz - Rotate

His last hit (that I cared for anyway) was 'Nothin'. Even though it was a lyrical calamity ("It goes indian style, knees bent in dashiki/Strapped with the veritek baby tec B.T."), the beat and flow just hit so perfectly that it was a must-play in the clubs.

Not sure if this is a lead single to an upcoming album but it's got club banger written all over it. Actually, it reminds me of 'Superthug'. Who cares, NORE and his non-sensical lyrics are back!

Kogi BBQ

Sometimes the most genius ideas are the simplest and the ones you are likely to look over. The straw, foaming hand soap, Line Rider, the jump-to-conclusions mat - all fairly simple things that took off and garnered their inventors some money and/or fame. It's like when Myspace first came around; it was like "Shit, why didn't I think of that?".

It's the same thing with this culinary craze known as Kogi BBQ. Real simple concept: Take your typical run-of-the-mill taco and throw some Korean BBQ on it. Create a Twitter for some viral marketing flavor and [Ari Gold]BOOM![/Ari Gold], instant cottage industry.

Early last month, I finally decided to check it out so I trekked out with The Do and Jenn to The Alibi Room.

Roja. Or is this Verde?

There was a little bit of a line but nothing too bad

Short ribs, chicken, and even a short rib burrito. Sick!

Jenn in mid-chew =)

The aftermath

The verdict? Good stuff. If you haven't checked it out yet, then I highly suggest it. Even though The Alibi Room has added the tacos to their menu (effectively giving them a brick-and-mortar location), "chasing the truck" is part of the experience.

Damn, now I'm craving some...

Joint of The Day 03.19.09: The Dream - Walking On The Moon

The Dream is positively killing it right now! I initially slept on his first album b/c that 'Shawty Is A 10' track just sounded so damn typical and formulaic. Everything lately tho has been bangin - 'Rockin That Thang' has been my official close-the-night-out song for a few weeks now.

For this track he teams up with Kanye on some uptempo, old school Michael Jackson-type joint. It's like 'Number One', except better.

Sneak of The Week: Ep 1

Being that yesterday was St. Patrick's Day and all, it's only fitting to start this off with a shoe that is about 90% green.

The Heineken Dunk. It's probably THE shoe that got me heavy into SBs and definitely one of my top 5 dunk colorways of all time. I'd love to pick up another pair to keep on ice but current prices at consignment shops like Flight Club are hitting between $850-1000. Nevermind...

Super crispy!

Joint of The Day 03.18.09: Kenna - Say Goodbye to Love

Go ahead and give me the late pass for this one but this track by Kenna is just too fresh! Thelonius P on the production and Lupe with the fitting cameo. Funkier than morning breath!

Aiiiight, Chill

Yes I know it's Tuesday but yesterday was mad frenzy on my end so updates were not on the agenda. Conferenced training calls with people out in Florida pretty much consumed my day.

The weekend was chill.

On Friday, I rocked a solid hour long set at LAX and then proceeded to get hit up by some random breezies wanting me to buy them a shot. This is typically not my style but I said fuck it and said ok - thankfully they were too busy acting like loud drunken hyenas that they didn't see me ask for two shots of piss water well vodka.
Salud, biatches.

The Do came down on Saturday morning and pretty much spent the weekend with me. Time was well spent driving all over the place, hitting up Ikea, dinner with the fam @ King's Hawaiian, spinning @ The Highlands, and then hitting up Ikea again. I finished it all off with a Laker game and a little curtain hanging to close out another homebody-type Sunday.

Bonus shot: Row and his best Samuel L. Jackson impression

So what's up for this week? P90x Phase 2 starts tonight and I know it's gonna be an ass kicker. Aside from that and lots of rest, the Slim (yes, of 112 fame) show @ Sevillas on Thursday, and then LAX and The Highlands again.

Ms. Ongoco and 2BK - I'm craving for some Kogi!

Joint of The Day: Gang Starr - Aiiiight Chill

AoTW

It's always nice to get some press, regardless of format or (for lack of a better term), circulation numbers. It shows that someone is paying attention and appreciates the effort put towards the sets that go over most drunk club-goers' heads.

Thanks for the press DJ Buddy!

Now that I got that out of the way, I can concentrate on getting that Playgirl spread locked down.

[Jay-Z]Allow me to re-introduce myself! My name is...[/Jay-Z]

Ok, after much hesitation, I've decided to create a blog. It'll simply be a space to inform of upcoming events, post new music, and generally shoot the shit about nonsense!

On the real, I hope to make this as entertaining a read as Questlove's shit over on OKP, minus the celebrity encounters.

So...stay tuned for an event, some music, and tons of nonsense.
